<p>Position Description</p><p>Title: Legal Counsel Position Number: Classification: Division: Legal & Secretariat Branch: Reports to: Deputy General Counsel ANSZCO Code:</p><p>POSITION OVERVIEW</p><p>Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel (under the day-to-day supervision of the Senior Legal Counsel), you will be responsible for providing legal support on a broad range of issues across the organisation, with a focus on the retail business and on workplace relations issues.</p><p>Divisional Structure</p><p>General Counsel & Board Secretary</p><p>Project Corporate Deputy Manager Executive Manager Records General Assurance Officer to EA to General NECF Manager Counsel and Risk the Board Counsel</p><p>Corporate Senior Claims Policies and Legal Officer Publication Counsel Manager</p><p>Legal Admin Legal Legal Legal Legal Counsel Paralegal Officer Workshop Counsel Counsel Counsel (part-time) Student</p><p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES</p><p> Provide high quality and timely legal advice and other support to ActewAGL Human Resources and Retail divisions, including advising on discipliniary matters, workplace relations legislation, competition and consumer laws, utilities legislation, and commercial law generally, and interpreting a range of operational and transactional contracts including product sales arrangements, employment contracts, enterprise agreements and foundation agreements that underpin the business.  Prepare product sales agreements, employment contracts and other legal documents</p><p>Issued by: Release date: Revision No.: File location: Page: 1 of 2 Position Description</p><p> Provide a broad range of other legal support services to other areas of ActewAGL as needed  Represent ActewAGL in commercial negotiations and, as needed, before relevant tribunals and courts  Liaise with external legal service providers as required  Provide in-house legal training to non-legal staff  Other duties within the employee's skill, competence and training</p><p>QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE</p><p> Bachelor degree, or higher, in law from a common law jurisdiction  Currently holds, or is eligible to hold, a practising certificate in the ACT  Around 5 years’ legal experience in a commercial environment in either a reputable law firm, or in-house</p><p>ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS</p><p> Well-developed written and oral communication skills including the capacity to explain in simple terms legal concepts to people without legal experience  Ability to represent the organisation confidently and competently  Excellent legal analytical skills with attention to detail  Superior problem-solving skills with an ability to identify key issues quickly  An effective time manager able to prioritise competing demands  Ability to provide practical advice by applying legal concepts to a commercial business  Flexible, cooperative and tolerant  Shows enthusiasm, persistence and curiosity  Able to maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders  Commitment to, and ability to implement, best practice safety, environment and workplace relations standards  Proficiency with relevant electronic systems including Microsoft Office suite and document management systems </p><p>VERIFICATION</p><p>This section verifies that the position holder and supervisor have read the above position description and are satisfied that it accurately describes the position.</p><p>Position Holder: Name</p><p>Signature Date / / 2011</p><p>Supervisor: Name</p><p>Signature Date / / 2011</p><p>Issued by: Release date: Revision No.: File location: Page: 2 of 2</p>
