Corporate Information  Publicly owned- under Johnson & Johnson  6.7% increase in 2005 and 13.1% increase in 2004 with the J&J ticker name  Ethicon is a division of Johnson & Johnson operating under their name. Sales not available in financial listing  Ethicon holds the majority share of the market +40% in the minimally invasive product category  Main locations include La Jolla Ca and Raritan NJ- New Jersey would be the main marketing location

Corporate Strategy  Contour Curved cutter stapler introduced, Two new harmonic devices introduced, Combating counterfeit devices, various training classes available. Ethicon pumps out new products with regularity and customer sevice (classes are plentiful) shows their drive to keep their customers happy and educated with their devices… For the position it shows how strong the marketing department is for the company  In other divisions of the healthcare segment there were acquisitions of consumer products from Pfizer to strengthen their line of healthcare products. It shows their drive to perform at a higher level in all facets of the healthcare division. Almost acquired Guidant but the deal fell through, would have strengthened Ethicon even more. The company overall is strong in developing in house technology as well as buying technology to help them advance as a company

Career  In a direct hire I would qualify for the graduate student section of the hiring process. Through their application process I would search for available jobs between September to December.  In a marketing position I would be localized in one area with some travel to see cases and medical trade shows.  As a graduate student labeling I cannot get an international assignment because I cannot live in another specified country as an established resident

Hiring Process  The company uses career fairs, the internet, and on campus visitations to hire  Ethicon is a recruiter from MSU evidenced on the erecruiting website  Ms. Jennifer A Bailey, Mr. Paul Simpson Cole, Mrs. Jennifer Francis Freeman all are MSU alumni that work at Ethicon  Ideal candidates are achievers, workers with an understanding of smaller business andthat Ethicon has the funding of a large business. I do fit this profile with my prior work experience and that US Surgical, Tyco Internationals subsidiary, operates much like Ethicon and J&Js relationship.  Ethicon plans to wrap up their interviews and hirings for recently graduated students 6 months before graduation (September- December)
