Course Objectives: The technology applications curriculum has six strands based on the National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS•S) and performance indicators developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE): creativity and innovation; communication and collaboration; research and information fluency; critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making; digital citizenship; and technology operations and concepts. Through the study of technology applications, students make informed decisions by understanding current and emerging technologies, including technology systems, appropriate digital tools, and personal learning networks. As competent researchers and responsible digital citizens, students use creative and computational thinking to solve problems while developing career and college readiness skills. Statements that contain the word "including" reference content that must be mastered, while those containing the phrase "such as" are intended as possible illustrative examples.

Course Description: The student uses creative thinking and innovative processes to construct knowledge, generate new ideas, and create products. The student collaborates and communicates both locally and globally to reinforce and promote learning. The student acquires, analyzes, and manages content from digital resources. The student makes informed decisions by applying critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. The student practices safe, responsible, legal, and ethical behavior while using technology tools and resources. The student demonstrates a thorough understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. The student demonstrates a thorough understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.

Materials needed: 1 in. binder with clear view Writing paper Pencils, preferably mechanical Erasers Blue/Black ink pen USB Pen drive (very important)

Grading Policy: Grades are cumulative through the end of each six-week and will be based only on demonstrated mastery of concepts and development of skills. Every third week of the six-week period a progress report will be issued to each student. At the end of each six-weeks period students will be issued their report card. Student performance will be assessed in the following areas: Classwork Student Activity and Open Ended worksheets, research, and participation. Assessment: There will be one assessment for every lesson that is taught.

A project will be due at the end of the six weeks and will be counted as your six weeks exam. May be but not limited to: PowerPoint Video Poster

Binder: The student is required to maintain a binder. The binder will contain students’ notes, essays, student work and any extra handouts given by the teacher.

Missed Assignments: Students will be permitted to make up missed assignments only if their absence from class is excused. An excuse absence does not mean the student is excused from completing the assignment, only that the assignment can be made up. The number of days a student will have to complete missed assignments is equal to the number of days absent from class. It is the student’s responsibility to pick up missed assignment from missing assignment folder. Student must make arrangements with teacher to schedule time to make up any missed assessment or test. No assessment can be made up during class time.
