FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 17, 2002

FISHERMEN KEEP AN EYE ON THEIR HOOKS, WITHOUT GETTING HOOKED IN THE EYES

With the Wizard Fishing Specs Bifocal Safety glasses, eye safety is no longer inconvenient for the millions of fishermen, anglers, and outdoorsmen who wear reading glasses.

Van Nuys, California – Wizard Industries recently announced the launch of the Fishing Specs bifocal safety glasses. Fishermen can now have improved close-up vision for tying knots and working with tackle, along with excellent, ANSI compliant eye protection. No longer do they have inconvenience of wearing reading glasses under safety glasses, or the inadequate protection of reading glasses alone.

“Fishing rods, hooks, knives, and other items used in fishing can cause serious eye injuries” says Billy Carmen, CEO of Wizard Industries. “Most of them are preventable by the simple use of appropriate eyewear.”

“People want to wear these safety glasses. Fishermen will be able to see clearly as they tie lures, bait hooks, and work with their fishing tackle,” he continued “and know that their eyes are well protected.”

The Wizard Fishing Specs are ANSI Z87.1-1989 compliant safety glasses with polycarbonate lenses and integrated side shields. They provide excellent protection from both the front and side. When looking straight ahead, the Fishing Specs are optically clear. When looking down they provide correction through the integrated flat top 28mm bifocal component. They are available in +1.0, +1.5, +2.0, +2.5, and +3.0 diopter strengths.

The lenses also provide 99.9% UV protection, up to 380 nm, and are scratch resistant. The ear stems are adjustable for both length and angle, ensuring a perfect, comfortable fit. Also featured are attachment points for eyeglass retainers.

The Fishing Specs are the newest item in Wizard’s Bifocal Safety Glass line. Other items include the Shop Specs, Mechanic Specs, and Shooting Specs.

Fishing Specs with clear lenses will begin shipping in October, and will be available nationwide through sporting goods retailers, tackle supply and outdoor shops. Retail price is $19.95. Tinted lenses in both high-contrast yellow and smoke-gray will be available in November.
