2014 Wood Buffalo Big Spirit (WBBS) Grant Program Application Version: April 10, 2014

The Wood Buffalo Big Spirit community and culture project program is designed to improve the communities throughout the Wood Buffalo region through a granting process. Broadly the aim of this program is to substantially enhance the quality of life on the whole whilst enriching the cultural landscape of the region. Improving the image, our region’s environment and community pride is always considered to be paramount. This could be through fostering artistic growth in our region, sporting excellence and contributing positively into stimulating the economic development activities throughout the Wood Buffalo region. Finally, to improve the interest in, engagement of and capacity when possible of the region’s volunteers will ultimately serve to aid in the aforementioned aims of this program.

Application Deadlines: completed applications are due online at bigspirit.ca/grantapplication on or before April 30, 2014 (otherwise mid-March each year) and mid-August (August 19, 2014) of each year by end of business day (4:00pm). By submitting this application to the Wood Buffalo Big Spirit Grant Program and Committee we the undersigned,

a) declare that we understand the eligibility criteria and program audit requirements. We further declare that we have not submitted a proposal for funding to any other Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo business unit, which has not been disclosed in this application;

b) acknowledge that information from this application and information concerning the progress of approved projects may be shared, as required, with other Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo business units for the purposes of determining program eligibility and evaluating or monitoring program outcomes and that a limited amount of information about approved projects may also be posted to the Big Spirit website(s);

c) acknowledge that any approval of a Wood Buffalo Big Spirit (WBBS) grant program investment into a community & culture program/project is based upon our acceptance of the Community & Culture Project Guidelines;

d) acknowledge that the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and/or the Wood Buffalo Big Spirit grant program Committee reserves the right to amend or rescind its approved investment if the project is not completed, the evaluation report is not submitted or lacks sufficient detail or the program was materially different than represented in this application.

e) agree to notify Wood Buffalo Big Spirit grant program Committee in writing for further approval if there are changes to the program or if additional expenses are incurred that were not included in this application to [email protected] .

2014 Wood Buffalo Big Spirit (WBBS) Grant Program Application f) Funding from the WBBS Grant Program cannot be used to pay for expenses incurred prior to the official announcement and acceptance of the funding contract. Funds will not be provided to recover the cost of a project deficit. Applicants who undertake programs / projects prior to confirmation of funding from the WBBS Grant Program do so at their own risk.
