Dear NHS Volleyball Player,

My name is Tim Torstenson and I am the Head Volleyball Coach at NHS. I am very excited about our 2016 volleyball season! This is my 8th year as the head coach in Northfield and I cannot wait to get started. Justin Wagner will be returning to our staff this year as our Varsity Assistant coach and Raquel Becker will be returning as our JV coach. Kelly Piker has been hired as our 10th grade/B team coach. She has extensive volleyball coaching experience and coached with the Northfield Volleyball club this winter. We also have a new 9th grade coach this year, Christa Bultman. She is very familiar with the program as she played for Northfield High School just a few years ago. We are happy to welcome Kelly and Christa to our staff. The schedule below is my best attempt to set times and dates for our preseason. There may be some minor changes due to coaches’ schedules but we will let you know in advance of any of those changes.

I am hoping all of you will be using the next few weeks to get into volleyball condition so we can start our season on Day one. We will be starting our practices with a mile run everyday. I want you to make sure you are in shape when we begin the season as our first week will be focused on a lot of conditioning.

Captains' practice will be at the Northfield Middle School and you are all welcome to attend and I would suggest that you do if it works with your schedule.

Volleyball will begin on Monday, August 15th. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR ONLINE REGISTRATION DONE AND PHYSICAL FORMS TURNED INTO THE OFFICE BY AUGUST 12th! THIS IS THE FRIDAY BEFORE WE BEGIN! NO REGISTRATION, NO TRY-OUTS! We will be conducting try-outs the first two days of practice. I have attached the schedule for try-outs and the first two weeks of practice. Please look at the times to make sure you arrive at the correct time. I would suggest arriving 15 minutes early to get ready for try-outs.
