Parking and Road Safety

Brize Norton Primary School Newsletter www.brizeprimary.org [email protected] Twitter @BrizePrimary Issue: 9 11th November 2016

Dear Parents

REMEMBRANCE DAY Thank you to all those who joined us today for the Remembrance service in church. The children’s behaviour was excellent and respectful and several adults commented on this after the service.

FOREST SCHOOL Due to school performance rehearsals there will be no forest school for Class 1 on either November 28th or December 5th; their last forest school will be on Monday 12th December and Class 2 will have their last forest school on November 29th. Class 3 will commence forest school on a Tuesday afternoon after the Christmas break so please remember to bring in old clothes, waterproof trousers and jacket plus wellington boots.

PARKING AND ROAD SAFETY Further to a suggestion at our most recent Parent Council, the School Council will be running a road safety awareness campaign in school. They will be focusing in particular on our own local concerns and will encourage children to be aware of parked cars and moving cars in the car park. They will also be leading a poster competition, which is being organised by West Oxfordshire District Council. The children will have the Christmas holidays to produce their Road Safety Awareness poster on A4 paper. Last year’s prizes were bicycles, so it is definitely worth entering this competition! Further to other suggestions from the Parent Council meeting we have been in contact with our PCSO, Richard Conner, and he has agreed to support us and has offered advice on how to make our children safer in the surrounding streets and the car park. We are currently looking into how we can switch the flashing school crossing hazard lights on without the need for a crossing attendant. We will keep you informed about our investigations.

PARENT COUNCIL Our Class 2 parent representative, Mrs Sheiba Brannan, has stepped down from the Parent Council and her role will be taken over by Mrs Annabel Mulcahy (parent of Emily).

“MY TIME” AT ST BRITIUS CHURCH St Britius Church will be starting a weekly ‘coffee and chat’ morning for parents with young children who would like a little time to relax after the morning school run. The church is fully equipped with toys and activities to entertain young children and babies, as well as having a new heating system and baby changing facilities. “MY TIME” will start on Tuesday 8th November from 8:45 to 10:00 and will take place on every Tuesday in term time. Flyers have been sent home, but if you would like further information please contact Rev James Maddern on 844175.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Many thanks to all those families who donated to the above Christmas box appeal.

REMINDER: There is no Chill Zone club with Mrs Winter on Tuesday 15th November.
