Volunteer Opportunity
Are you interested in a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Can you communicate clearly? Do you enjoy helping those in need?
Did you know AARP Tax-Aide assisted over 2,500 Dutchess County residents with free tax preparation last year? The program offers FREE tax preparation at over 20 local sites from February 1st though April 15th.
Volunteers are needed in your community to assist with income tax preparation. The ideal volunteer for tax preparation is computer literate, well organized and enjoys interacting with others. All tax preparation volunteers must complete 36 hours of classroom training.
Volunteer training will be October 18, 22, 25, 26 and 28 at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Millbrook. Classes are from 9am-4pm with a short lunch break.
If you are not comfortable with computers or do not want to prepare tax returns, there are other satisfying opportunities available including Client Facilitators, Technology, Communications, and Site Coordinators. There is something for everyone.
AARP membership is not required.
Visit www.aarp.org/taxaide or call 1-888-687-2277 to sign up. A representative will then contact you with more information on how to get started.
AARP Tax-Aide is celebrating its 42nd year of providing free Tax Preparation and Tax Counseling. AARP Tax-Aide is administered through the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the IRS. It is a jointly sponsored IRS and AARP Program and is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service available to low and middle income taxpayers with special attention to those 60 and older.
