DATE:

Dear NAME,

I’d like to see a Saint Paul Public Schools cooperative lacrosse program hosted by Nova Classical Academy in the coming year. My daughter plans to attend XXX high school and has developed a passion for playing lacrosse.

My daughter has been playing for XX years with the Saint Paul Lacrosse Club. She started playing in XX grade. During this time, I have seen tremendous growth in the sport both locally and nationally. SPPS is the only metro area district without a MSHSL sponsored lacrosse program.

The current team is not governed by the MSHSL and as a result, ALL games are played in outstate Minnesota. Travel to and from games is time consuming, financially restrictive and unreasonable when the closest teams are in either North St. Cloud or Mankato. We are currently the ONLY high school program in the metro area that remains a club team.

We are self-funded and would do not require additional financial support from an already tight SPPS athletics budget. Our program has a long and robust history of serving families who do not have the resources to pay fees or purchase equipment. Our program supports all youth who desire to learn the game. I appreciate that the game allows new players to enter the game even at the high school level. The need for intensive grooming and training as is so evident in many sports is not necessary in lacrosse.

Lacrosse is our country’s original and oldest sport. Lacrosse has given my daughter (insert personal anecdote). I want to see the sport continue to grow in St. Paul.

If you haven’t had an opportunity to see a game of lacrosse come cheer the boys and girls at McMurray fields or watch the girls on the Central High School field this spring. I look forward to meeting you on the field and hearing about the support of a cooperative program in Saint Paul Public Schools.

Sincerely,
