Job Description and Person Specification Title: Trainee Playworker Responsible to: Play Development Worker Job purpose: To be a trainee member of the club’s play team and deliver a fun, stimulating and successful service to children and their families. To learn about working with children in a supported environment and potentially lead on to our modern apprenticeship programme. Key responsibilities and accountabilities:  Be willing to learn, think and ask questions about all things relating to children and play.  Facilitate children’s play by taking a child-centred approach  Contribute to children’s wellbeing through the provision of fun, stimulating opportunities  Assist the playworkers in the planning and delivery of the service  Maintain individual development plans for each child  Follow applicable policies, procedures and regulations  Establish and maintain effective communication with parents/carers about children’s needs  Establish and maintain effective communication with external agencies about children’s needs  Collect children from local schools  Provide oral and written reports to the Line Manager  Undertake training  Perform other duties as assigned

Person Specification A trainee playworker should be passionate about play and great quality children’s services. We are looking for fun, approachable and caring person. Team players are essential, as everyone is expected to muck in where needed to ensure the services success. The right people are willing to learn, confident and able to relate well to children, colleagues and parents/carers.

What we’d like:  Some previous experience of work, training or volunteering with children  Awareness of the play  A keen interest in working with children  Someone willing to learn and continue to learn over the year  Most importantly an outgoing fun person
