Duck Race – Lara’s family have cleared the stream and it’s ready for the race. We have only sold 42 ducks. A reminder will go out to parents on Monday, 5th September - Pauline to action. We need to sell 50 to cover the prize money! It was agreed that we would give away the punch balloons and sweets left over from the Fun Day. We will make up “sweetie” bags on Wednesday 7th September – volunteers needed please!

Spree Books – Carol Ashby will hopefully come to Parents evening on October 5th and 6th to sell the books. They cost £22, and £6 from the sale goes to the school. Pauline to e - mail Carol. Eric will introduce Spree Books to parents at Meet the Teacher Evening.

Christmas Fair – The afternoon of Friday, 8th November, time to be confirmed, is the date for your diary. Mrs Cameron gave has given us a list of things that she would like help with ,and it was agreed that we would inform her at the next fund raising meeting how the Parent Council could help.

 Christmas café, (home baking)  Santa’s Grotto -Eric’s father-in law has agreed to be “ Santa”  Lucky dip  Lucky lollypop  Pin the tail on the reindeer (we have a pin the nose on Rudolf from last Christmas)  Raffle  Tombola  Find the Christmas stocking  How many sweets in a jar  Reindeer food  Guess the weight of the Christmas cake  Decorate fir cones  Peanut wreaths  All classes will make an item to sell. Mrs Cameron would like parents helpers who are police checked to help with these crafts.  Miss McMaster will communicate to Parent Helpers.

It was agreed raffle books will not be sent out to parents as in previous years. The tickets for the Raffle will be sold on the day, as we did at the Fun Day. The Parent Council also have some Christmas tattoos, party bags and pencils left over from previous Christmas events.

River Kids West Lothian - On Friday, 18th November the school will fund raise for “ River Kids”, a charity that raises money for under privileged children in West Lothian. The charity receives lots of toys for Christmas but also needs cash so the children will have a “dress down day” and can also donate a toy.

Other Christmas Fund Raising Ideas -We also discussed selling “Santa” letters to the nursery and P1, P2 children. Parents would complete a form giving details where they live and what their child wanted for Christmas and we would send out a personalised letter to their home address. The letters would cost £5, the only costs to the Parent Council would be printing the letters, paper, envelopes and postage stamp. This will be discussed further at the next meeting. Another idea was to organise Christmas cards to be drawn by the children and then professionally printed. See - “christmascardsforschools.co.uk”. The idea is that the children design their card, then the parents receive a “proof” of the card ,and if the like it they can order it – similar to the method for buying school photographs. There isn’t much money to be made, £1 every 20 sold, but we thought some parents would like to have cards. Lara will research costings for the next meeting.

Date of next meeting to be set by next Fund raising committee.
