2016 Summer Social Media and Marketing Internship
The Houston Hispanic Forum is offering an extraordinary learning opportunity for a select individual. The internships is a full-time opportunities for 12 weeks.
The intern will work directly with the Executive Director to write compelling news stories for the Houston Hispanic Forum as well as create a social media strategy and create intriguing social media posts to raise community awareness of HHF.
The intern will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced nonprofit management professional, and work on the essentials of non-profit marketing work. This is a unique position that will enable the selected candidates to understand the day-to-day operations of a highly successful, advocacy nonprofit organization.
The Houston Hispanic Forum is a 30-year old strong nonprofit with a very active Board. HHF is the founder of the popular annual Career and Education Day event held at the George R. Brown Convention Center. HHF’s mission is to empower and inspire the success of the Hispanic community so that all Hispanics will possess the knowledge and tools to be successful.
Responsibilities Write testimonial stories to post on the Website Research online social media best practices and trends Review current social media program Create a strategy for social media Background / Skills Preferred degree plans: marketing, creative writing, business, or advertising Experience with social media Word & Excel savvy Interest in integrating Marketing and Social Media with philanthropy
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work independently/as a self-starter, as well as a team member.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail.
A strong work ethic and a good sense of humor.
A commitment to the advancement of the Hispanic community preferred.
A strong desire to learn about the nonprofit world.
Preference will be given to college seniors, graduate students and recent college graduates, but others will be considered.
This position will be adapted to the selected candidate’s interests, self-identified strengths and availability. Although this internship is unpaid, benefits include a fun and engaging office atmosphere, recognition for tangible products that the candidates can include on their growing resumes, and gaining on-the-job experience from an experienced nonprofit manager.
