Harry Homer Aldridge, Jr., age 83, of Monticello, died Saturday, October 29, 2011, at The Retreat Nursing Home.
Harry Aldridge was born in Seattle, Washington to the late Harry Homer Aldridge, Sr. and Frances Chemella Cudhie Aldridge. He was a member of the Monticello Presbyterian Church where he had served as deacon and elder. He graduated from the University of Chicago, served in the U.S. Army after World War II, worked briefly in the insurance industry, and for many years had a farming career in Jasper County. He served as mayor of Monticello for several years. He lived during his retirement in Atlanta and more recently at the Retreat Nursing Home in Monticello. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Malone Aldridge in 1987, and daughter-in-law, Suzanne Humphrey Aldridge in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Kye Lee Aldridge of Dacula; children and spouses, Harry Homer “Buddy” Aldridge, III, and David Malone and Linda Aldridge, all of Monticello; John Augustus and Bryan Aldridge of Griffin, and Beverly and Ken Cox of Winterville; stepson, Thomas M. Lee of Dacula; grandchildren, Megan Aldridge Fabrega, John Tyler Aldridge, Kala Aldridge, Jason Aldridge, Grace Aldridge, Olivia Aldridge, Julia Aldridge, Sara Aldridge, and Henry Aldridge; great grandson, Carlos Fabrega; and sister, Patti Orton of Gainesville.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, October 30, 2011, at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Rev. Rindy Trouteaud will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Jordan Funeral Home.
