Research in Ecology 2003: Schedule for WEEK 2 Monday, June 30, 2003 Staff: Dr. Krempels, Mr. Burgess, All Faculty planning on going into the field with their groups today, All Graduate Facilitators, All UF’s. 8:00 am: Take attendance & hand out name tags. 8:00-8:15 am: Graduate facilitators prepare vans and equipment. a. Box lunches arrive between 8:00 - 8:15 am at the loading dock. Please be there to transfer the lunches (and the ice provided by Food Service) to our ice chests and water jugs. b. In SA 110 (freshman lab at the west side of Cox), the ice chest, water jug, first aid kit and folder with medical information on each group member have been arranged on the lab tables BY GROUP. c. Vans should be loaded and ready to go by 8:30am, but you’re on your own schedule. 8:30 am: Groups leave for field sites. 12:00 noon: LUNCH 1:00 pm: Continue field work 2:15 pm: BREAK 2:00 pm: Groups will either return from the field starting around this time, or remain in the field, if necessary. Once groups return to campus, they will either analyze/store data with their mentors and facilitators OR be able to use any extra time for swimming at the UM pool. Swim time will be at the discretion of the group leaders. 3:50 pm: Meet in SA 110 for daily wrap 4:00 pm Homeward Bound Tuesday, July 1, 2003 Staff: Dr. Gaines, Dr. Krempels, Ms. Pappas, Ms. Burley, Mr. Burgess, All UF’s. 8:00 am: Take attendance & hand out name tags. 8:10 am: Dr. Krempels Lecture: Population Genetics: How Populations Evolve. 9:15 am: BREAK 9:20 am: ACTIVITY: Mating, Migrating Marbles 10:25 am: Break 10:30 am: Scientific Writing: How to Write a Scientific Paper 11:30 am: Swimming at UM pool 12:30 - 1:30 LUNCH pm: 1:30 pm: Statistics with Ms. Pappas: Asking That Butterfly Question! 2:25 pm: BREAK 2:30 pm: Computer Workshop with Mr. Burgess 3:00 pm: Meet in SA 110 to FINISH design of caterpillar experiments! ALL GROUPS MUST HAVE SUPPLIES LIST TO DR.
