Staff Leader, YMCA Camp Ernst; Burlington, KY — 2007 Supported, led, and encouraged high school and college-aged workers at the camp. Provided constant, evaluative feedback to staff persons in my unit. Dealt with serious camper issues, notifying and interacting with parents as necessary. Also played an integral role in the programming and supervision of activities for sixty to one hundred children of the age group throughout the week.
Cabin Counselor, YMCA Camp Ernst; Burlington, KY — 2005-2007 Directly responsible every week for ten weeks for the emotional, psychological, and physical well-being of between nine and seventeen campers with ages ranging from six to fifteen. Perceived accurately and responded appropriately to the needs of children. Skills developed include resolving in-group conflicts, mitigating emotional crises, and maintaining a constant sense of accountability and propriety.
Projects Manager/Aquatics Supervisor, Rice University Recreation Center; Houston, TX — 2007 Assisted at various levels with the logistical details of the university’s Aquatics and Outdoor Programs. Also supported the Aquatics/Outdoor Director with various tasks involved with the operation of both of the departments. Evaluated and supervised student employees in the aquatics department.
Lifeguard, Rice University Recreation Center; Houston, TX — 2006-2007 Promoted and maintained a safe facility without any incidents or accidents. Trained regularly to maintain proper lifeguard technique and level of fitness. Secondarily, remained responsive to patrons’ needs and contributed to the upkeep of a sanitary and attractive working space.
Ronald McDonald House Volunteer, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital; Houston, TX — 2007 Provided physical and social comfort to families (including their children) who have infants or children in the Intensive Care Unit. Helped to establish the environment of a “home away from home” when this wing opened.
