DEBELLA'S BLESSING OF THE BALLS RETURNS TO MCFADDEN'S, MGK GIVES AWAY 500 HOTEL ROOMS AT JETRO LOT

Bala Cynwyd, PA (March 28, 2011): If success is measured by results, it’s safe to say that John DeBella's annual Blessing of the Balls has been quite successful. In 2008, three local religious leaders stood in front of the Mike Schmidt statue and blessed the balls that the Philadelphia Phillies were going to use on Opening Day. The Phillies went on to win the World Series. They blessed the balls again in 2009, and the Phillies went to the World Series for a second consecutive year, but ultimately lost to the New York Yankees. The results of last year's Blessing weren't exactly what Phillies fans were hoping for, but DeBella and the religious leaders that joined him in 2008 will once again set up in the outdoor patio area of McFaddens' at Citizen's Bank Park on April 1 and aim to bring back the inspiration that propelled the team through their championship season. The live broadcast will begin at 6am. The first 200 people in the door will receive a free ‘MGK/McFadden's Opening Day t-shirt. The actual blessing of the Opening Day balls will take place at 8:30am. Pastor Jeff Raffauf, of West Lawn United Methodist Church; Father Joe Campellone, President of Father Judge High School; and Rabbi Gregory Marx, of Congregation Beth Or will be doing 3 separate blessings. MGK's DeBbi Calton will take over the live broadcast at 9a and continue to broadcast until 2p. Later in the day, from 10:00a to 12:30p, 102.9 WMGK night time DJ, Ray Koob, is hosting a HUGE tailgate party at Jetro Lot (Darien Street, across from the back end of Lincoln Financial Field. There will be free food (hoagies, Krispy Kreme® donuts), former ‘MGK House Band Final Vinyl will play live, and the radio station will be giving away 500 FREE hotel stays (one night) from Resorts Casino Hotel in AC.
