Step-by-step directions: Day 1: Introduce to students, assign groups/topic, students research and create presentation with map. 1 Introduce lesson/topic. 2 Explain to students they will be assigned a group in which they will research and create a brief presentation that is 2-3 minutes max over their assigned topic and dynasty (political, cultural, economical of Tang OR Song). Videos could be uploaded to YouTube directly from the phone or remind students to bring their cord to use the phone as a flash drive. 3 Separate students into 6 groups (3 Tang and 3 Song) ● Political ● Economical ● Cultural 4 Students work on reading articles to research (see supporting resources below), then create their map explanation videos. 5 Students turn in video to teacher by sending screencast link or emailing from phone/upload to YouTube and send link.

Day 2: Show presentations (20 minutes). Writing Reflection. 1 Introduce the reflective questions to the students. Remind students to be thinking about the questions as they watch the presentations. 2 Show student presentations to the class. 3 Have students type their reflections picking one of the following: ○ Which of these innovations had the biggest impact on your life and why? ○ How would your life be different without the innovations of the Tang OR Song Dynasty? ○ How did the Tang or the Song dynasty impact China as it is today? 5 Students turn in typed reflection to teacher (email, google docs, project share, etc).

TechFusion: Make sure when you implement this lesson in Tech Fusion, you upload student samples of BOTH the map video presentation and their reflection writings. The reflection writings are an essential piece of the lesson to demonstrate higher order thinking.
