PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL COMMITTEE MEETING THURSDAY 16 OCTOBER 2014 5.00PM Catholic Centre

Business Arising from Previous Meeting

 Digital Piano  Wheels and brakes are not on yet Sister Lyn  Sister Lyn has used it

 One Voice Hymn Books Sister Lyn  Have arrived & have been used  Still to be numbered accordingly  Old hymn books have been donated  Appropriate trolley to house the books is currently being sourced

 Religious Merchandise  80 - 90 cards have been purchased (weddings, birthdays, funerals) Sister Lyn  Therese suggested that Sister Lyn email schools to advertise the merchandise in school newsletters and to school staff  Holy cards have also been purchased  Benny also has a Gatto catalogue if parishioners come in looking for items  Benny to email schools a copy of the Bulletin notice pertaining to the religious merchandise so the items can be advertised

 Parish Office Furniture  New bench/unit has been ordered to house holy cards and religious Father Michael merchandise in the Parish Office Benny

 Nagle East Timor Trip  13 Year 11 students participated Andrew  Students stayed at a boarding house and undertook associated 1 duties and delivered a series of lessons in Sport, English etc  Nagle views this initiative as an opportunity to work with the community  Students raised $2000 and donated the funds to the boarding house to use for basketball court and other resources  The trip is an immersion experience  The plan is to build on the experience next year  Staff and students have all benefitted from the experience  Suggestion has been made for the Year 11 students to provide presentations for schools and/or at Mass, sharing the experience with primary students and parishioners  Andrew to contact schools and parish once it has been organised

Working with Children Check Father Michael  Andrew's has been received  Benny's has been emailed and card is on the way  Therese is to provide a copy of hers

Finance Report  Bob Pozzi is absent at the present time Father Michael  Finance Report will be prepared for next meeting  Lots of liturgy resources have been purchased from the budget  Future PD opportunities to be investigated for parishioners and teaching staff  Spirituality PD could also be offered

Liturgy Report Sister Lyn  Liturgy Committee is being re-established with a meeting planned for 5 November with Christmas liturgies a focus  Members are Colleen, Carol Quill, Father Michael, Benny, Sister Lyn  Outdoor Mass for Christmas will be revaluated for next year - indoor mass this year  Christmas Mass times have been rejigged and will be publicised in due time

Pastoral Report Father Michael  Communion  Hillcrest - Thursdays 10am  Geraldton Nursing Home - Thursday 11am

 Communion on Sundays  Colleen goes to the Regional Hospital after 7.30am Mass to distribute Communion  SJOGH roster system for priests

2 Youth Report Father Michael  Choir  Choir has started  Once/month  Students are going to be asked to use the One Voice books for copyright and environmental reasons

General Business  Prayer Groups  Sister Goretti distributed a flyer with devotions in the Cathedral and Sister Goretti a Prayer Groups

 Liturgy for Children  No volunteers to date for Term 4

 Diocesan Conference Father Michael  Discussed various aspects of conference  Discussed suitability of conference guest speakers  Father Michael happy to work on investigating PDs/Adult Education options for the future  Therese and Andrew to assist Father Michael  Diocesan Vision distributed  Discussed how the Vision mirrors Pope Francis' document  Father Michael shared the group responses from the conference and the points were discussed Therese  Future Actions  Mass commentator to welcome parishioners and ask them to greet each other Melissa  Mass commentators to introduce themselves  The above to be documented on the commentator’s sheet  Benny currently investigating the purchase of a fibreglass statue of Our Lady of Fatima for easy transportation to people's homes  Investigate speakers for bells in the Cathedral to signal The Angelus  Get the young people to talk about their experiences with older parishioners  Questionnaire to ask the children what they would like to do and see  Use Bulletin and Homily to highlight the various works in action  Commentator could advertise some of the events for the bulletin to the congregation  Sister Goretti discussed different options for prayer times and review for future

 Diocesan Vision  At future meetings the document will be discussed part by part

 Funeral Palls  Still in the process of being sewn up

3  AGM  To be held at the beginning of 2015  Meeting to be called a community meeting not AGM  Review wording in constitution  Examine in further detail at November meeting

 PPC Secretary  Melissa announced that she will be stepping down from the PPC at the end of the year

 Next PPC Meeting Tuesday 25 November at 5.00pm
