PROFITstar depends on the Advantage Database Server and the Profitstar Server. It is possible to install these “server components” on: . A “true” 32-bit server machine. (64-bit servers are not supported.) . A non-server machine that is commonly accessible to multiple users. . A single user’s own machine.
As previously noted, the requirements for the server components are different from the requirements for the client components. When the server services and the client software are both installed on the same machine (for example, at a site where there is only one user), the higher of the two sets of requirements will apply.
Operating In most multi-user environments, we recommend that your server be System: running under one of the following operating systems: Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server (Service Pack 4) Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
In single-user or limited multi-user environments, we recommend: Microsoft Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4) Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 1 or later) Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Microsoft Windows Vista. (Windows Vista recommended system requirements)
Note: Non-Windows operating systems, such as Novell® NetWare® and Linux®, are not supported.
