Bret My name is Bret Haney, I am 28 years old, and I was born and raised [email protected] here in Bakersfield. I was married 5 years ago to my wife, Amberly; we currently have no children. I graduated from Stockdale High School in 1996 as a Salutatorian with a GPA of 4.26 having taken mostly Honors and AP classes. I began my college career at CSUB in the fall of 1996 as a Computer Science major with a minor in Business. After four frustrating years with class schedules in the Computer Science Department, I abandoned it as my major and switched to Business Management. I graduated in June of 2001 from CSUB as the top Management Student in the School of Business and decided to take time off and not pursue my Master’s Degree right away. Fortunately, this turned out to be a good decision because in November of 2003 I was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma and underwent chemotherapy treatments for nearly 6 months. I have been in remission for nearly three years now and felt that it was the right time for me to come back and obtain a higher degree. I am currently employed at Urner’s in the accounting department and have been in this position for over a year now. I started at the company in 2001 in an operations role and was promoted to the accounting department in May of 2005 when an opening became available. Urner’s has agreed to help me pay for my schooling and has hinted at a possible Marketing position in the future with the company once I have graduated from the Master’s program, thus I have decided to concentrate in Marketing for my elective courses. I have always had a passion for learning and I am hoping that the five years I have taken off will not hinder me in any way from picking up where I left off when I graduated with my Bachelor’s. I look forward to the challenges and rewards of this program have a bright outlook for my future.

Anood I received a Bachelor’s of Science from CSUB in Business [email protected] Administration, concentration Management Information Systems in December of 2005. I am currently working full-time at Chevron as an Information Management Analyst. I have only been at Chevron for about 2 weeks. Prior to working at Chevron I was working for the County of Kern at the Public Defenders as an Information Systems Specialist. I worked at the Public Defenders for about a year. This is my second quarter in the MBA program. I started the MBA program last quarter. As far as hobbies, I love traveling, snowboarding, and playing soccer for fun. Brennan I was born in Laguna Beach, CA in a hospital room overlooking the [email protected] Pacific Ocean. The next 18 years of my life were spent hanging out at [email protected] the beach working on his tan and sand castle building “skilz.” My BS in Environmental Engineering and MS in Chemical/Environmental Engineering are from UC Riverside in 1999 and 2002, respectively. In 2001 I went to work for the California Water Resources Control Board, San Diego Region – a division of the California EPA. In 2005 I moved to Bakersfield where the real estate market was booming to make his dream of being a filthy rich surf bum a reality. I took a job at Boyle Engineering to learn City Planning/Engineering and land development. During this time Brennan obtained his Real Estate Broker’s License, Personal Trainer Certification, and White Water Rafting Guide Certificate – all of which play a part in my future goals. The decline of the real estate market in California could not have come at a better time for me. Having learned what he needed by rehabbing and flipping houses, it was time for me to learn how to run a business and move into the land lording niche. In the fall of 2006 I enrolled in the MBA program in CSUB. My future endeavors lie in land development, the health/fitness industry, and anything that involves a greater than 50/50 chance of him sustaining some form of bodily injury. 6 MBA MARKETING SEMINAR BIOS

Amy I work as a Regional Account Manager for CIT Small Business Lending Corp., assisting small business owners with their loan [email protected] requests. I took a couple of quarters off from the MBA program to get settled into my job, which I started last March, but I am happy to return to Cal State and get involved in the program, once again. Completion of this course will place me at the half way mark! I am actually an Alumnus of CSUB, having earned my BS in Business Administration back in 1998. I always like to add that I am an Alumnus of Bakersfield College, as well, where I earned my AA in Business. We are all so fortunate to live in a town like Bakersfield, which offers such great educational opportunities! Following college, I gained diverse business experience, having held the following menagerie of positions: Direct Mail Coordinator for a large department store, an Analyst and Financial Advisor for stock brokerage firms, a Coordinator for a Small Business Development Corporation, an Account Manager for a website development company, and lastly, as a Commercial Loan Officer with a few lending corporations. During my twenties, I moved around in jobs every year or so, learning much through my interaction with co-workers, clients, and the business world, at large. At present, I am extremely happy with my work life… and I hit thirty this year! All of my experience, both good and bad, including the influence of some of my graduate work at CSUB, has pushed me towards my current path—a career that is very fulfilling and rewarding. And, I say that with honest truth… with a good sense of perspective! I wake up each morning, now a day, looking forward to the workday ahead, knowing my efforts contribute to something meaningful. And it is out there for each & every one of us!
