BRIDGING THE GAP A Community Resource Event

June 11, 2013:

We live in a wonderful community with a tremendous amount of resources. Have you ever wondered exactly just what resources are available to you?

Join us Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Market Square for Bridging the Gap, a community resource event. This event is designed to showcase the many services our citizens have to utilize. For example, the Rockingham County Business & Technology Center can assist you with opening a new small business. The City of Reidsville has a Historic Commission, which works to preserve our historic districts. The Rockingham County Arts Council assists artists and art organizations throughout the County with grant funding and promotion. HELP aids people in abusive or domestic violence situations.

Did you know that if you live in Rockingham County and have a child between birth and age 5 they can receive a free book a month through a program offered by Rockingham County Partnership for Children? Are you on Medicare? What is SHIIP? This is just a sampling of the vendors that will be set up that day to tell you about their services. There will be over 20 vendors from all areas of the community informing you about services for all ages.

Entertainment will be provided by the following: Carolina Girls; Reidsville Kickers; a Tai Chi demonstration by Vicki Melvin; healthy cooking by Chef Rudy from Annie Penn Hospital; ventriloquist Dale Smith; The Produce Lady Brenda Sutton with more health cooking demonstrations; Burton Memorial Puppet & Drama Ministry; and musical performances by Sprit & Truth Worshippers; and Rob Compton. There will be bounce houses for the children, along with face painting and art-a-fair, which is an area for kids to make arts and crafts.

This event is being sponsored by The City of Reidsville, The Reidsville Senior Center and The Beauty of Reidsville, Order of the Eastern Star and the Community Transformation Catalyst.

It is free and open to all ages. Hot dogs will be given away while they last. For a complete list of vendors, visit www.ci.reidsville.nc.us.
