MONTANE KIELDER 100 EVENT AMENITIES To cater for the event, many local businesses are putting on special event services, rates or extra camping facilities and have adjusted their opening times for the convenience of riders, taking the race schedule times into consideration. Read on for more information.

Catering

Alfresco Event Catering - www.thebutchersgrill.co.uk New event caterer Alfresco Catering will be on site from Friday afternoon serving a variety of hot food. As a qualified butcher, Tim will be serving delicious homemade burgers and sausages made from local meat in his family butchers shop in Herefordshire, as well as jacket potatoes with a variety of homemade fillings and his own special homemade beef chilli and vegetarian chilli. There’ll also be homemade cakes ranging from fruit cake to flapjacks and Rocky Road and a real coffee machine to help wash them down.

Friday Night Specials – pasta and noodles for carbo loading Saturday Post-Race Special – roasted pork baps with homemade stuffing and apple sauce.

The Duke’s Pantry The local tea shop at Kielder Castle, The Duke’s Pantry will be open late on Friday night serving a range of hot food and will be open again early on Saturday morning for breakfast: fruit, croissants, porridge, toast, bacon butties and more will be available. Saturday afternoon there’ll be firing up the barbecue to satisfy that post-race hunger, alongside jacket potatoes, toasties and other comfort food.

Kielder Village Shop - Event Opening Times: Friday 9am – 9pm; Saturday 5.30am – 7pm; Sunday 8am – 5pm

Extra Camping Facilities

Kielder Community Campsite – www.kieldercampsite.co.uk. Tel: 01434 250 291 (limited hours during the day) - Full facilities on the main campsite for campers and caravans, they are also taking bookings for the overflow camping behind the castle, currently known as “Campsite B”. Please note: campsite B only has portaloos and is just for tents.

Rock UK, Whithaugh Park, Newcastleton Tel: 013873 75394 - Extra camping available to competitors and spectators for the event weekend. Log cabins £25pp for two nights (A self catering kitchen available for use of the lodge guests.) Camping - £3pp for the weekend – portaloos and water only.

Hawkhirst Activity Centre Tel: 01434 250217 - A range of accommodation on the enormous scout camp next to Kielder Water, just a short drive from Kielder village. (Make sure you mention the event when you ring.) Rowan Lodge (sleeps 44) - £16 per person per night (single sex bunk rooms) £4.50 breakfast £4.50 lunch/pack lunch £7 dinner (2 choice, 2 course meal) Camping £6.50 per person – toilet block, showers and water taps on site.
