General Membership Meeting Minutes Wednesday, October 20, 2010 P. J. Whelihans Pub – Maple Shade, NJ

Call to Order: President Mark Morgan (Moorestown Theater Company) called the meeting to order at 11:40 AM with members introducing themselves around the room. Luncheon Host: John Kroll (P. J. Whelihans Pub). Attendance (27): Hala Al-Shawaf (Susquehanna Bank), Kevin Aberant (Taenzer, Ettenson et al), Meghan Bubnis (Core Vitality), Chris Chiacchio (Law Offices of Chris Chiacchio), Vice President Brian Cooper (Infinity Title Co.), Michele Cornacchione (Infinity Title Co.), Barbara Dole (Food Bank of South Jersey), Kathy Felix (Courier-Post), Barbara Gallagher (Welcome Mortgage Corp.) John Ginley (Superior Mortgage), Secretary Michelle Henderson (Moorestown Radio Control Hobbies), Kathy Hiltner (Liberty Bell Bank), Moorestown Council Nominee Stacey Jones, Steve Keefe (Powell Energy & Solar), Tricia Kellogg (Liberty Bell Bank), Karen Koenig (Beneficial Bank), Treasurer Harry Koons (Moorestown Community House), David Madara (Bollinger Insurance), Don McAllister (McAllister-The Service Co.), President Mark Morgan (Moorestown Theater Company), Lindsay Morgan (Paychex), Deb Myerson (Intelysis Corp.), Don Powell (Powell Energy & Solar), Tom Sheckels (Sheckels Creations), Tom Wagner (Quality Concepts), Jay Winkler (Idea Lab). Guest Speakers (4): Kristi Howell-Ikeda (President & CEO of Burlington County Chamber of Commerce), and 2011 Moorestown Town Council Nominees: Brian Sattinger (D-NJ), Chris Chiacchio (R-NJ), and Stacey Jones (R-NJ). Kristi spoke to the members about BCCOC, and the right way to network. All three council nominees addressed the membership, citing their individual campaign platforms and urged members to vote on November 2nd. Members’ questions followed all of the speakers’ remarks. Minutes: Copies of the September General Meeting minutes were on each table and unanimously approved as written. Financial Report: According to Harry, there is $34K in the bank. After upcoming bills are paid, Harry expects the balance to be about $26K. Membership Report: Brian informed us that the current membership numbers 232. The 2010-2011 Membership Directory is now with printer, Tom Wagner of Quality Concepts. Standing Committees Board of Directors: As three board members are stepping down, Mark called for the assembled memberships to consider serving on the MBA board. The ballot is expected to be out at the November general meeting, with voting taking place at the December general meeting. Budget: Nothing to report. Bylaws: Nothing to report. Community Affairs: Nothing to report. Ethics: Nothing to report. Marketing: A reminder to members to take one or both of the Halloween Parade & Bonfire and Candlelight Night posters and distribute them. Membership: Nothing additional to report. Nominating: Nothing to report. Policies: Nothing to report. Scholarship: Nothing to report. Social: Hala announced that the next Business After Business event would be hosted by Care One Harmony Village on October 27th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Sponsorship: Nothing new to report. Event Committees Halloween Parade & Bonfire: Scheduled for October 23rd, participants will assemble in front of PNC Bank (101 W. Main) at 3:00 PM and walk to Stokes Hill for a best costume contest. Brian expects around 400-500 children to participate. Candlelight Night: To be held on November 5th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Tom said there is no curbside entertainment this year; stores can provide their own. 1000 glow sticks have been ordered. The MBA table will be set up in front of Idea Lab. Easter Egg Hunt: Scheduled for April 16th, 2011. Stacie Jones (Infinity Title) is the new Vice Chair. ArtWalk Season: Scheduled to begin May 13th, 2011. Moorestown Day: This 35th Annual event is scheduled for June 4th, 2011. Additional Committees 1 Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC): Per Mark, a voting member, EDAC meets the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Star Center at Moorestown High School. There is news that another new restaurant will be opening next to PNC Bank. Burlington County Chamber of Commerce (BCCoC): Mark, a member of this committee, mentioned that the chamber enables different business associations to brainstorm and share ideas for various events. Old Business -New MBA website: MoorestownBuisness.com expected to be up and running in November. New Business -Request from Dave Schill (David W. Schill Restorations) for MBA to sponsor the 4th of July Parade: Budget details will be forthcoming at a later general meeting. -Request from Barbara Dole (Food Bank of South Jersey) who mentioned that her Pennsauken-based organization serves Burlington, Salem, Camden and Gloucester counties. -Suggestion from Deb Myerson (Intelysis Corp.) that we cut the cost of general meeting lunches to $15 for members / $20 for non-members. -Suggestion that the MBA consider acquiring a portable microphone / public address system for future speakers.
