Advocare Incorporated

Advocare Incorporated (Advocare) is an independent, community based not for profit organisation that provides advocacy and information to older people who receive government funded aged care services, and to the older people (50+ for Aboriginal clients and 60 + for non Aboriginal) living in the community who are victims or potential victims of elder abuse perpetrated by a person in an informal relationship of trust such as family or friends.

Home And Community Care Program (HACC) – Advocacy, information and education for older people and people with disabilities in receipt of Home and Community Care services.

National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) – Advocacy, information and education for older people in residential aged care facilities, and people in receipt of federally funded community care packages.

Elder Abuse Prevention Program (EAPP) - Advocacy, information and education for older people at risk of, or experiencing abuse.

Working at Advocare

 Staff at Advocare enjoy a wide variety of tasks in the office and in the community, and have the opportunity to travel throughout the state.

 Attendance at conferences and staff development training is encouraged.

 Staff are paid under the Advocare Enterprise Agreement with annual increments.

 Conditions include 4 weeks annual leave, with additional paid leave over the Christmas and New Year break.

 After a qualifying period, employees are entitled to 2 wellness days in addition to their leave entitlements.

 Advocare is able to offer employees the opportunity to salary package, thereby increasing the value of your pay package.

Project Officer/Executive Assistant Page 3 POSITION: PROJECT OFFICER/EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

SALARY: Level 5 – $54 283 - $56 974

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

Role Purpose The purpose of the Project Officer/Executive Assistant position is to implement planned projects and perform support functions for the CEO.

This position works to develop new initiatives, and ultimately strives to achieve the vision of the organisation.

The position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Key Responsibilities

 Apply analytical thinking to current ideas for organisational development  Source and write proposals for funding of projects within specified timeframes  Source grants, and apply for grants to support planned projects  Contribute to planning, implementation and evaluation of the business plan and project development.  Research relevant topics widely and prepare well written, substantiated arguments in report form for the CEO and other stakeholders  Assist with preparation for Board and other meetings  Execute tasks that arise from Board Meetings under the direction of the CEO  Undertake tasks delegated by the CEO as required

Key skills, abilities and qualifications

ESSENTIAL  Ability to multitask, and work within a small team environment  Well developed problem solving skills and the ability to innovate  Strong organisational and time management skills  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interpersonal skills  Ability to present both project work and education sessions to relevant stakeholders  Possession of or progress towards a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience  A commitment to production of quality documents  Well developed computing skills and technological literacy  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs  Understanding of, and commitment to OSH and equal opportunity principles and practices  C Class driver’s license

DESIRABLE  An understanding and appreciation of issues facing people from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people  An understanding of aged care and the needs of older people and the disabled  Experience at grant writing  A commitment to human rights
