ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING MINUTES

Board Room 708 S. Miller Street Santa Maria, CA December 11, 2013

CALL TO ORDER: Superintendent Alvarado called the Annual Organizational Meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Fidenzio Brunello, Linda Cordero, John Hollinshead, Jody Oliver and William Smith

BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: None

STAFF MERMBERS PRESENT: Phillip Alvarado, Joanne Cameron, Matthew Beecher and Paula Elkins

C. Public Comments – One

John Raymond, community member, spoke regarding changing Board meetings to a different day since the high school meets on the SECOND Wednesday of the month which is the same as SMBSD.

D. Election of Officers

Mrs. Oliver moved and Mr. Hollinshead seconded the motion to NOMINATE BRUNO BRUNELLO AS BOARD PRESIDENT. Motion carried.

Mrs. Cordero moved and Mr. Brunello seconded the motion to NOMINATE JODY OLIVER AS BOARD VICE PRESIDENT. Motion carried.

Mrs. Cordero moved and Mrs. Oliver seconded the motion to NOMINATE JOHN HOLLINSHEAD AS CLERK OF THE BOARD. Motion carried.

E. Turn Meeting over to New President

The meeting was turned over to Mr. Brunello.

F. Motion to Designate Secretary to the Board

Mrs. Oliver moved and Mrs. Cordero seconded the motion to SELECT SUPERINTENDENT ALVARADO AS THE SECRETARY TO THE BOARD. 4 ayes, 1 no (Smith) Motion carried.

G. Motion to Set Time and Place of the Regular Board Meetings SMBSD Ann. Org. Meeting Page 2 December 11, 2013 Mrs. Cordero moved and Mrs. Oliver seconded the motion to SET THE REGULAR BOARD MEETINGS ON THE SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH WITH OPEN SESSION AT 6:00 P.M. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2014 AND WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 2014. 3 ayes, 2 no (Hollinshead, Smith), Motion carried.

H. County Committee on School District Organization

Mrs. Oliver moved and Mrs. Cordero seconded the motion to APPOINT JOHN HOLLINSHEAD AS THE REPRESENTATIVE. 4 ayes, 1 oppose (Smith) Motion carried.

I. RESOLUTION NO. 13-11 – AUTHORIZED SIGNATURES FOR THE 2013-14 FISCAL YEAR AS REQUIRED BY THE SANTA BARBARA COUNTY EDUCATION OFFICE

Mrs. Cordero moved and Mr. Hollinshead seconded the motion to ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 13-11 TO APPROVE THE ATTACHED AUTHORIZED SIGNATURE LIST ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2014, as presented in Item I. Roll Call vote, 4 ayes, 1 abstain (Smith). Motion carried. (See Addendum #1)

The Annual Organizational Meeting was adjourned at 6:04 p.m. The Board immediately opened to Open Session.
