INTERLABORATORY STUDY IIS15P03 Phthalates in Plastics 2015

INSTRUCTIONS TO PARTICIPANTS

 Please confirm sample receipt as soon as you have received and checked the contents of this package, preferably using the fax form that you receive together with this package. Please complete the form and send it to iis (email [email protected] or fax no. + 31 181 69 4543).

 This interlaboratory study concerns 2 different samples, you receive for each sample (#15065 and #15066) approx. 3 grams for determination of number of individual phthalates. Please treat each sample as if it is a routine sample.

 DINP = Diisononylphthalate (CAS nos. 28553-12-0 & 68515-48-0) DBP = Dibutylphthalate (CAS no. 84-74-2) BBP = Benzylbutylphthalate (CAS no. 85-68-7) DIDP = Diisodecylphthalate (CAS nos. 26761-40-0 & 68515-49-1) DNOP = Dioctylphthalate (CAS no. 117-84-0) DEHP = Bis 2-ethylhexylphthalate (CAS no. 117-81-7) DiBP = Diisobutylphthalate (CAS no. 84-69-5) DHP = Dihexylphthalate (CAS no. 84-75-3)

 Each laboratory is requested to analyse the samples in the way it would normally do in day-to-day circumstances.

 Please report your analytical test results using the indicated units on the report form and the requested minimum number of significant digits. Preferably unrounded results are used for the statistical evaluation. Please do not report ‘less than’-results which are above your detection limit. Results reported as ‘less than’ cannot be used for meaningful statistical calculations.

 Please complete the report forms A & B with the requested details of the analysis performed.

 In order to avoid mix-up of test results we have added a box for your laboratory code. Please understand that it is not mandatory to use, but it will facilitate identification of your test results.

 Please return the completed report form to iis preferably one week after sample receipt, but in any case before the indicated closing date: MAY 29, 2015 (preferably by email).

 If you have any remarks/questions please contact: ing R.J. Starink, Institute for Interlaboratory Studies P.O. box 200, NL-3200 AE Spijkenisse, the Netherlands tel.no. + 31 181 69 4541, fax.no. + 31 181 69 4543 e-mail: [email protected]
