Student Media Committee

STUDENT MEDIA COMMITTEE MINUTES ~ Nov 19, 2003

Present: John Cordiano, Alexandra Cornwell, Jessica Gaines, Mark Molter, Nick Pietron, Christina Koomen Smith, Jonelle Thackston, Erin Webster Garrett, April Asbury, Blair Whitely, Ken Bonk, Liz Koch, Mikel Chavers. Kenda Deleon Absent: Chelsea Adams (Exit 109 co-advisor), Courtney Bosworth, Chris Gardner (new SGA rep), Don Secreast (Exit 109 co-advisor), Laura Fessenden

The meeting was convened a few minutes after 11:00 a.m. in the Student Media Lab.

Nick handed out an agenda of what we were covering at the meeting and also a list of Student Media Committee member’s names, numbers and email addresses.

SMSC (Student Media Steering Committee)- the steering committee needs four people to fill it. Four people are nominated: Blair Whitely, Nick Pietron, John Cordiano, Erin Webster Garrett

Expanding committee-should we invite media studies faculty to sit in? It was voted that we would invite them as guests, not as voters.

Co-curricular Activities Board- Ken Bonk is the chair and needs a student media representative. There will be a meeting once or twice a semester, starting next semester, to talk about student issues around campus. Blair Whitely volunteers for this position.

New Business- Roc-TV is trying to work up its image and Jonelle Thackston says that next semester will be a big campaign. It was discussed a bit if Roc should change its name. It’s decided that the deadline for applications for Jessica Gaines’ position, Ad Manager, is November 24. Interviews will take place at our next meeting, December 3rd

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned around 11:30.
