Christian Community Development/ House of Hope

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelors degree/ Masters degree is preferred.  3+ years of full time work experience in non-profits, general management, financial management, and/ or strategic planning.  Past experience working closely with a Board of Directors.  Working knowledge of Waterloo/ Cedar Falls resources and community agencies. JOB DESCRIPTION FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: The Director shall oversee and administer the operation of the House of Hope for Christian Community Development: coordinate activities of the program; supervise staff and the overall operation of the program; and report regularly to the agency's Board of Directors.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Director is responsible for the oversight of the day to day operations of the transitional housing program for homeless mothers and their children, known as House of Hope. The Director develops funding opportunities; recruits and directs volunteer efforts; selects and guides residents of the program; oversees personnel matters, develops positive working relationships with referring human services agencies; maintains close cooperation with governmental, religious and private funding sources and the Board of Directors.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:  Implement the strategic vision of the Board of Directors for the House of Hope.  Manage daily office operations.  Direct, develop and evaluate staff.  Oversee the assessment and application process of potential residents to the House of Hope program.  Assist with case management responsibilities as needed.  Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs, and goals.  Establish sound working relationships with community groups and organizations.  Write and submit grant applications to appropriate funding sources/ develop and implement fundraising opportunities.  Maintain official records and documents.  Ensure compliance with federal/ state regulations, and all policies and procedures approved by the Board of Directors.  Work with staff, finance committee and the Board of Directors in preparing a budget and making sure the organization operates within that budget.  See that the House of Hope Board of Directors is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it.  Organize annual donor recognition/ volunteer appreciation.

CLASSIFICATION: Position is full time, Salary Exempt
