Contoocook Trail Project: Discussion on finances as it pertains to the grant was held and they are fine as far as the grant goes. Six of the ten floating bridge sections are completed. Discus- sion was held on the installation process. The launch pad needs to be done and a generator and hammer drill is needed. Richard left a message with Mr. VanDyke to schedule his services. Richard and Bill had sorted through the lumber, which is a full car trailer load on Dave’s trailer. A work party is scheduled at Dave’s. Richard will build frames on Saturday morning and in the afternoon bring Bill 2- 8’ x 4’s to do some finish work.

Camp Wildwood: Richard gave Matt the signs received from the Bureau of Trails to have them post them in four locations.

Pearly Pond Advisory Group Meeting: Last Thursday, Bill and Fred attended the meeting and listened to the consultants reports. A final report is due in December and the advisory group shall need proposal for that time. Bill presented the various best management practices to the commission that were discussed at the meeting. The advisory group shall be meeting once a month until the final report in December. The final report will go to the New Hampshire Depart- ment of Environmental Services.

Contoocook and North Branch Local Advisory Committee: Bill will keep the commission ap- prised of the changes regarding representatives and replacements. There are two representatives per individual towns.

Loon Preservation Committee: Phil met with a woman who surveys areas where loons could nest in the future. The loon population is increasing minimally. Mercury from lead weight sinkers are one cause of loon die-offs and more legislation is needed to stop lead all together. Loons will go down to the lake bed and pick up the lead weights and ingest them. Grassy Pond has fair nesting for loons. Phil said loons do not like to go on land and prefer to stay close to the water.

Turtle signs: Richard reminded the commission of the turtle signs that need to be posted. Previ- ous minutes should reflect where to post them. Possibly Robbins Rd., Wellington Rd. and New Ipswich Rd. Bill stated that NH DES has put out signs to watch out for turtles.
