Sarah Dummer; MYP trip Discussion/ideas:  April 28th and 29th, 6th-9th grade trip to Oregon coast overnight. Drift creek camp, lighthouse, aquarium, tide pools at devil’s punchbowl.  Big need for parent chaperones – male and female. Possibly 20 chaperones. 7 teachers are going.  Meals are planned ahead of time and provided.  Not sure how many kids are going yet but will potentially be 87.  Food and bags need to be hauled. Parents could bring coolers to help with frozen food.  Chaperone’s need to drive themselves  Scholarship fund available for those who cannot afford  Permission slips going out in March  Those of you interested in volunteering must have a background check 2 weeks prior to the event. Emily Evans –Union President  Oregon has the lowest business tax  Ballot measure for 2016 “A better Oregon” purpose is to increase C corporations minimum business taxes.  Starbucks, burger king, IKEA, walmart – not corporations in OR that make less than 25 million – minimum tax is $30,000 and anything more than that will be taxed 2.5%.  Wy’east pledged to turn in 3 signatures per member.

Actions/Decisions/by whom 

New officer recruitment Discussion/ideas  PTC board is stepping down but need to look for new officers now so that we can help transition new officers.  Trying to set specific roles and responsibilities, by laws so that it’s clear what we do. Actions/Decisions/by whom  Talk to one of the PTC board members if interested in positions

Volunteer coordinator’s report Discussion/ideas  Leadership council – SWOT analysis (strengths, weakness, opportunities, threats)  Strengths: what do you do well? PTC does fundraising, communication and recruitment for events? Unique resources do you draw on? Specific careers of parents. What do they see as our strength? Fundraising and time we put in. weaknesses – outreaching to new people, communication with staff and admin. Where do we have fewer resources? Staff and admin involvement, charter. Others see as weakness? Lack of outsider input. Opportunities: new people, training and advice of others.  Admin group did the same activity and came up with almost the same answers.  Auction needs to raise $50,000. We currently have ~16,000  Need MYP ideas for grades to support the auction  Tina is helping coordinate the class projects but we’d like to see teachers take this over and be more involved in the PTC in general.
