ABOUT THE ROLE US Lacrosse is seeking a highly qualified individual with exceptional planning, organizational, management and coaching skills who has strong leadership qualities and an understanding of lacrosse at the elite level to fill the position of U19 Head Coach
Job Title: Head Coach – US Women’s U19 National Team
Reports to: Director of High Performance. The US Women’s U 19 Head Coach will serve under the leadership of the US Lacrosse’s Director of High Performance for the duration of term - concluding after the 2019 FIL Women’s World Championships
Purpose of Role: The US Women’s U19 National Team (US U19 WNT) Head Coach is a position selected every four years by US Lacrosse and is primarily responsible for the selection, training and coaching for the US U19 WNT which is selected to represent US Lacrosse and compete in the quadrennial FIL Under-19 Women’s World Championships. The Head Coach position is a volunteer position and has been filled very successfully by full-time professionals who, with careful planning and preparation, have balanced the demands of their day job, coaching responsibilities, and home lives
Term of Appointment: The US Women’s U19 Head Coach term serves from February 2018 and extending through the conclusion of the FIL U19 Women’s World Championship in August 2019. The U19 Team Head Coach may be asked by USL to present post World Championship at the 2020 US Lacrosse Convention. The U19 Head Coach will begin their term after the US Lacrosse High Performance Committee completes a thorough selection process, the US Lacrosse Board of Directors approves the selection, and US Lacrosse receives all necessary documentation from the candidate
Remuneration: US Lacrosse will pay for the reasonable cost of travel, meals, and lodging for all team events. The U19 Head Coach will receive an honorarium for the term of the agreement
FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Coaching The U19 Women’s Head Coach is primarily responsible for the selection, training and coaching for the US Women’s U19 WNT
Will coach at the U19 World Championships and all US U19 WNT events including the Spring Premiere, Fall Classic, and all team tryouts and practices for the duration of the term (see schedule of events below)
Working with the Director of High Performance and the Operations Manager to set an appropriate schedule of practices and competition throughout the team cycle and helping to secure desired competition as needed
Will develop the curriculum for the US U19 National Team coach and player clinics and participate in these clinics as needed POSITION INFORMATION – U19 HEAD COACH Will assist to create curriculum for the National Teams Athlete Development program with the Director of National Teams Development Program
Selector Working with the US Lacrosse National Team Coach Search Committee and Director of High Performance to drive and select the team’s assistant coaches (3x) and staff
Working with the US Lacrosse Player Selection Committee and Director of High Performance to drive the process selecting age-eligible players of the US U19 WNT. This may include tryouts, evaluations and the final team roster
Financial Working with the Director of High Performance and the Operations Manager to set an appropriate team budget and operating within that budget allocated Actively engaging in all team fundraising efforts – personal solicitations, on-site appearances, letter writing campaigns, etc. – and holding team staff and players accountable for doing so
Sponsorships/Media Supporting and enforcing the exclusive use of the official US Lacrosse and US Women’s National Team sponsors’ equipment and apparel by team staff members and players Promoting the US Team using the resources provided by US Lacrosse and through all available channels but not limited to – print, television, radio, online, social media
Serving as a positive spokesperson for the US U19 WNT, US Lacrosse, and women’s lacrosse as a sport
The US U19 Head Coach will be required to present and/or organize a team demonstration each year during the term at the US Lacrosse Convention - if requested by USL

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Significant competitive lacrosse Head Coaching experience at the high school, collegiate and/or professional level and a demonstrated record of success on the field as a coach and mentor to athletes Experience with and demonstrated support of US Lacrosse and the US U19 WNT program and the international game of women’s lacrosse POSITION INFORMATION – U19 HEAD COACH A willingness to promote and grow the US U19 WNT program Strong communication skills and positive relationships with professional, collegiate, high school, and club coaches Proven capacity for raising funds on behalf of the team
