ADULT BIBLE CLASSES Bible Community Church of North Mentor December 4, 2011 This week’s lesson is Exodus 1:1-4:17. We will find the Book of Exodus to be partly narrative and partly a statement of the Old Testament law. We will find both moral law and ceremonial law. We will study the instructions for the tabernacle and what it represented. Determine to read through the whole Book carefully during our study.

Memory Verses: Would you believe that we will have only three memory passages during the quarter. Exodus is not memory verse territory as Genesis is. This week’s verse is Exodus 4:11. What was the statement of this verse intended to teach Moses?______What lesson do you think the verse has for you?______

A new quarter is a new opportunity to do every lesson. Doing your homework each week will give you the maximum benefit from Exodus. Some folks punch their lesson sheets and put them in a three-hole binder. Over a period of years they have their own commentary on the Bible. It’s not a bad idea.

2. When we read the story of Israel’s bondage in Egypt we tend to view it as a mistake of men. Yet, it was in the plan of God. Read Genesis 15:13,14 and 46:3. List the specific predictions God made to Abraham and Jacob about the time of bondage in Egypt.______

3. Why was it right for the Israelites to disobey the edict of the king in preserving babies alive? ______

4. The first period of Moses’ life is described in 2:1-15. What purposes do you think God had in this period?______This period ended with the incidents described in 2:11-14. What do these incidents show about Moses’ character at this time?______

5. The second period of Moses’ life was his 40-year exile in the desert. This is described in 2:16-3:6. What do you think God added to Moses’ life and character as a result of this period?______

6. When God called Moses to duty he was full of objections. Each reference below covers an objection and God’s answer. TO THINK ABOUT In 4:14-16 the Lord was angry with Moses. Why was He angry? As a result of these verses, Aaron became Moses’ spokesman. Do you think this was the best arrangement for Moses? Why, or why not?
