Course aims: We will cover how to get the best out of your garden in this season, what jobs are needed to be done and how to do them.

Course description: As buds are bursting and the garden reawakens, spring is one of the busiest times in the garden. Find out how to keep on top of all this activity, what jobs are needed to be done and how to do them.

Course content: what topics will the course cover? The course will look at what the main jobs that are to be done in the garden at this time of year. We will look at soil management and preparation, seed sowing, hardening off seedlings, planting out plug plants and spring pruning. We will also look at care of herbaceous perennials such as staking.

By the end of the course, students should be able to: 1. Know what seeds to sow now and how to sow them. 2. Understand soil management and how to prepare the soil in Spring. 3. Know what to do when planting out and hardening off seedlings. 4. Identify what needs spring pruning and how to do it. 5. Take care of herbaceous perennials.
