Unit 5 Assignment Your Task: You have been hired to create a website in order to help with marketing efforts.

You can choose to either promote an upcoming event in Toronto:  Concert  Convention  Festival  Other (please speak to your teacher)

OR

You can choose to promote Harbord Collegiate Institute:  Business and Computer Studies Department  Business Club

Assignment Instructions: You will use the web development skills that you learned in class to create your website. Using coding language(s) (such as HTML), template design platform(s) (such as Weebly, Google Sites or Wix) or a combination of the two you will showcase your skills and create an effective website.

Your website must include the following pages:  Homepage This is default page that viewers will go to when they are visiting your website. Make sure you include:  Overview of information  Appropriate graphics  The date the site was last updated  On the additional pages of your website, you must include the following information: 1. Promotion: You need to create a promotional poster (using photoshop) or movie (making movie maker) for your topic of choice.

2. Directions: Where is this located/taking place (include maps, directions and visuals to help the viewer easily find it)

3. Related Sites Page Link your websites to other websites that are related to yours.

4. Other (If you are creating a website for an upcoming event you will need to include information about pricing, fan comments, etc)

(If you are creating a website to help promote Harbord you will need to include relevant photos, events, fieldtrips, etc)

5. Work Cited Page (in MLA)

Remember that:  Your website should be well formatted and follow the online criteria for good websites. Remember, sometimes “less is more”.  You should have appropriate visuals on each web page  You should use consistent style throughout (font, colour palette, etc)  The grammar and spelling in your website should be correct throughout.

Note that if you are choosing to do your assignment fully using HTML coding your page requirement will be lower (please speak to me).
