We often get questions about E3A's certification and how it is different than some of the other programs out there. Why would someone trained in another method want to take an E3A training or even get certified by us?

Fifteen Ways E3A Certification Training is Different

1. E3A focuses on equine assisted learning in corporate or business, education and/or personal development contexts.

2. E3A believes you need to choose horse activities and facilitate specifically to the context within which you are working. One size does not fit all. Corporate training is very different from equine assisted learning programs for at-risk youth. Your debriefing questions need to be specific to the context and the kinds of challenges each context faces.

3. E3A advocates a team approach, but the members of the team are cross-trained. There isn't a "horse specialist" and a "facilitator"--both members of the team are taught the skills to fulfill all roles (including how to plan an event).

4. E3A's certification training teaches equine experiential education EXPERIENTIALLY. You participate in all horse activities, practice setting up activities and capture the issues and actions from the debriefing, and ultimately facilitate activities from start to finish, including the entire debriefing process.

5. E3A's curriculum is designed to teach skills in a step-by-step approach, with each class building upon the prior classes. We utilize principles of adult learning theory and teach them to our students.

6. E3A's class size is small. Usually under 20 people.

7. E3A's curriculum trains participants to facilitate both individuals and groups. We focus on how to facilitate group process and balance the needs of the team with the needs of the individual.

8. E3A utilizes a facilitative coaching approach. You learn to facilitate using a coaching model, where solutions come from your clients.

9. The E3A Facilitation Method utilizes a 5 Question Model which is easy to learn and remember.

10. In the E3A approach, horses guide the process. As facilitators we are "open to outcome"--the outcome that the horses are so good at providing. They are co-facilitators and an integral part of your team.

11. E3A teaches our students a model of workshop planning and delivery, from writing a proposal, using a pre-workshop assessment, picking horse activities that are most appropriate for the issues and context of the workshop, putting on your workshop, and after-workshop activities that help feed return business.

12. You are able to use the E3A templates in your business. (Level 2 E3A Certification as a Advanced Practitioner with a specialty in Corporate, Education or Personal Development gives you access to ALL the templates we use).

13. Prior E3A students who want to refresh their skills or experience updated curriculum can audit classes for a nominal fee.

14. Although E3A teaches our approach to equine experiential education and facilitation, we encourage you to find your own voice, and develop the approach that works best for you.

15. E3A provides on-going support through Community Network Meetings; enrichment classes, such as Assessing Team Culture, Using StrengthsFinders in EAL Programs, and Creating Personal Development & Wellbeing EAL Workshops; and Business Development classes and self-help resources.
