1 [3858-1] 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A BILL 10 11 TO AMEND SECTION 7-13-190, AS AMENDED, CODE OF 12 LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO 13 CONDUCTING SPECIAL ELECTIONS TO FILL VACANCIES 14 IN OFFICE, SO AS TO SPECIFY THAT IF THERE IS A 15 VACANCY REQUIRING A PRIMARY ELECTION TO FILL 16 THE VACANCY, THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION 17 APPLY. 18 19 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South 20 Carolina: 21 22 SECTION 1. Section 7-13-190(D) of the 1976 Code, as last 23 amended by Act 380 of 1988, is further amended to read: 24 25 “(D) Provided, however, if a vacancy occurs in more than one 26 office in the same county requiring separate primaries or special 27 elections to be held within a period of twenty-eight days under the 28 provisions of this section, the election commission or other 29 authority responsible for the conduct of the elections shall conduct 30 all of the elections on the same date. The primaries or special 31 elections must be held on the latest date required for an election 32 during the twenty-eight-day period.” 33 34 SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the 35 Governor. 36 ----XX---- 37
