Criteria There is no restriction to the field of the project, as long as it is a clinically relevant research project. For example, the project could involve patient care, teaching, quality improvement, discovery or innovation. Collaboration is highly encouraged. The feasibility of completing the project and submitting an abstract by June 4, 2018, as well as collaboration within or outside the division or department will make your application more competitive.

Faculty members who applied for or participated in FAMEPRO 2016 are welcome to reapply if they are submitting a new project.

Eligibility

-Applicants must be faculty members with a primary appointment in a College of Medicine department, though interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged.

Selection Process:

-The FAMEPRO subcommittee will evaluate the proposals for clinical scholarship based on their scope, feasibility, interdisciplinary collaboration, scientific merit and clinical relevance.

- Six proposals will be selected. Special consideration may be made for deserving applicants if their division/department shows faculty support by contributing equally to the grant with a matching fund.

The selected applicants will be required to attend the ‘Tools of the Trade: Introduction to Clinical and Translational Research’ workshop on September 19, 2017 in BRT 115 from 8.45 am to 3 pm. All other applicants are also encouraged to attend the workshop to prepare for a future submission to FAMEPRO.

Applicants must obtain their division director’s or chair’s support to participate in FAMEPRO, if selected.

Accepted projects will receive the following:

1. Dedicated mentorship support from a senior faculty member with experience in clinical research and scholarship

2. Technical assistance as needed, e.g. IRB applications, IHIS data access

3. Additional $2,000 CCTS vouchers for specific research cores such as Biostatistics & Clinical Research Center.
