ASSISTANT TELEVISION NEWS PRODUCER

-Academic Year: Spring 2018 -Deadline for all materials to be submitted is Thursday, Nov. 16 -Applications should be emailed to news executive Jennifer Walter at [email protected]. Once the application is turned in you will receive an email to schedule an interview with news executive Jennifer Walter and MUTV GM Phil Pinarski

Materials to submit by November 16 include: - Attached form - Résumé - Typed responses to the questions below - writing/multimedia or video samples

MUTV NEWS PRODUCER JOB DESCRIPTION

Work under and maintain strong communication with the rest of the Marquette Wire News Desk. Create several packages a week based off the budget created by the Executive News Editor and work with the reporter assigned to the story. Attend weekly MUTV meetings, weekly news desk meetings, Wire all staff meetings and training week. Responsible for the content of the weekly news show and multiple packages each week. Upload show segments and packages to Marquette Wire website. Plan out shows and packages with other news producers and entire news desk. Prepare volunteers to be on-air, assist them in writing broadcast stories, teach how to create packages and use Inception. Edit stories written by volunteers and create graphics (Full Screens, Lower Thirds, OTSs). Participate in a production meeting on the night of show to discuss sets and rundowns. Consistently communicate with producers in your department.
