The D16-engine is 50 mm longer than the longest D12-engine.

Compressor A new compressor (2COMP900) will be introduced for the D16C-engines. It is a 2-cylinder compressor with an air capacity of 900 litres/min.

Gearbox and clutch Only manual gearboxes will be available. VO2814 is an overdrive gerarbox which will be used for all applications. V2814 is a direct drive gearbox which will be used for long haul up to Gross Combination Weight 44 tonnes (GCW44).

The double disc clutch CD40B-O will be used for both gearbox alternatives. The CD40B-O is a drag-type clutch with dual friction discs with 400 mm diameter. The friction linings are made of a heat-resistant, asbestos-free material.

Content New front stabilizer A new front stabilizer (new variant FSTAB2) is introduced on front leaf suspended FH16. The new stabilizer with diameter 40 mm has medium high stiffness and a calculated weight of 16.9 kg. Front air suspended FH16 will have front stabilizer FSTAB (FSTAB weight is 13.1 kg).
