COLIN OWENS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Texas Funeral Directors Association renamed it’s Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor Colin Owens. Colin was the son of Dick and Ola Owens and was tragically killed in an auto accident in September of 2009. His funeral was attended by over 700 people in Wolfe City on September 5, 2009 – he was 27. Anyone who had attended a TFDA convention prior to his death had met Colin. He was the ultimate volunteer – there from the beginning to lend a helping hand. At the convention in Fort Worth in 2009, he assisted with the 50-year awards in the place of his dad, Dick, who was unable to attend. Colin was also a 10 year veteran of the Wolfe City Volunteer Fire Department. He is missed by TFDA as well as every family in Wolfe City and surrounding areas.

Now it is hoped that future students of each of the four mortuary colleges in Texas can be assisted by the Colin Owens Memorial Scholarship. One $250 scholarship per school is awarded each semester. TFDA has requested that the schools assist us by recommending a student to receive the scholarship.

When you contribute to the scholarship program in memory of a colleague, your donation goes into this fund. If you would like to make an annual donation to the program, your name will be listed each month as a donor. The suggested amount of an annual donation is $125. This represents half of a scholarship. See the form below if you wish to make a one-time contribution in memory of a particular person, or an annual contribution.
