EVIDENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR PERSONS WISHING TO UNDERTAKE AN ACS GAS ASSESSMENT

ALL APPLICANTS MUST NOW PROVIDE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING FORMS OF EVIDENCE TO THE ASSESSMENT CENTRE BEFORE ASSESSMENT.

Category 1 (Initial and Re-Assessment)

Persons with previous gas certification, evidence required: original gas qualification certificate or card required current or expired.

Current or recently expired qualifications can be re-taken under the re-assessment scheme. Persons with qualifications that have lapsed for more than 12 months will be allowed via the Category 1 Initial Assessment scheme.

Category 2

Persons with related/similar trade qualification and gas experience, evidence required: original relevant qualification certificate relating to the gas industry or a similar trade i.e. plumbing craft certificate, S/NVQ level 2 or similar and a supporting letter from a Gas Safe registered company on company headed paper detailing the extent of supervised relevant gas training/work undertaken. The letter must show the Gas Safe registration number of the company and the person(s) supervising the candidate and be signed by an authorised official of the company.

Category 3

Persons entering the gas industry for the first time must provide an EXTENSIVE and auditable portfolio of evidence to support the supervised on and off the job training and experience they have gained. This evidence must cover core safety and the module they wish to be assessed in (e.g. Gas Meters etc). The evidence must also provide verifiable cross referencing to the locations at which the work was undertaken, the scope of work carried out, the date on which the work was done and must be countersigned by the Gas Safe registered operative supervising the applicant. The registered number of both the supervising engineer and where different, the registered company providing the training must be shown. A supporting letter is also required from a Gas Safe registered company on company headed paper confirming the validity of the evidence. Alternatively, the candidate may enrol on a relevant training course, i.e. plumbing craft or S/NVQ, with a view to becoming a Category 2 applicant.

APPLICANTS WHO ARE NOT ABLE TO SATISFY ONE OF THE ABOVE FORMS OF EVIDENCE CANNOT BE ACCEPTED FOR ASSESSMENT.
