Archetypal Bendigo shiraz – big, soft, juicy shiraz flavours with christmas cake, spice and coffee overtones; rich and soft and delicious. "Produced from the hillside vineyards of BlackJack and aged in American and French oak barriques for 18 months prior to bottling. The name 'BlackJack' derives from an American sailor who jumped ship during the gold-rush days of the 1850s and 1860s and earned himself this nickname." It's got a slightly chalky edge, which I like, especially as it's matched to lovely, plummy, minty, serious dark fruit, the tannins starting from halfway through the palate and richocheting on from there.
