What Muscle Type Am I?
Inside of our bodies we have three types of muscles, smooth muscle, cardiac muscle and skeletal muscle. This activity will help us find more out about the muscles that help us move, function properly and most importantly live!
Directions: Every minute a timer will go off and you should proceed to the next station. First scan the each of the QR code given, using the set of clues given at each station make a prediction as to what kind of muscle you are seeing and use the notes we took in class to support you answer.
Using the set of clues, develop a prediction for each different muscle type
Notes:
Clue 1: My life span is about 120 days, I am made in bone marrow
Clue 2: I carry oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body
Clue 3: I am round shaped like a doughnut with a dent in the middle
Clue 4: I get my color from hemoglobin a chemical that is rich in iron

Clue 7: I am a thrombocyte and I am a colorless fragment of a cell
Clue 8: My life span is only 9 to 12 days long
Clue 9: I make up less than 1% of your blood, I am the smallest blood particle
Clue 10: My main function is to control bleeding by helping blood to form a clot and then a scab
Clue 11: In aplastic anemia, a rare but very serious condition, production of my cells (and other blood cells) in the bone marrow is severely depressed.

Bonus QR: Plasma is the pale-yellow liquid part of your blood that holds all the blood cells. It makes up about 55% of your total volume. It carries nutrients throughout your body.

Clue 13: There are 3 types of my cells: granulocytes, monocytes, and lymphocytes.
Clue 14: My cells have a wide range of lifespans, from hours to years. I have different shapes.
Clue 15: My cells fight infection and help you develop immunity. I am the largest blood cell
Clue 16: I make up less than 1% of your blood.
Clue 17: High white blood cell count is an increase in disease fighting cells circulating in your blood. High white blood cell count is called leukocytosis
