6TH QEO GURKHA RIFLES 200TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS UPDATE

Dear Fellow Members,

The first letter about our celebrations for next year went out in February. The aim of this letter is to update you on plans for next year.

As a reminder, the two main events to be held in:  Pokhara, Nepal on Saturday 25 February 2017; and  UK at Kempton Park Racecourse on Saturday 29 July 2017.

The programme for the Nepal Durbar weekend follows below this letter. The Retreat, originally planned for Friday 24 February, has been moved to Sunday 26th. Unfortunately the bands were booked for another event in Kathmandu so the Retreat will now take place the day after, rather than the day before the Reunion.

The Nepal Durbar is now just 4 months away. Marcus Cotton of Tiger Mountain says that hotel rooms for February are being booked up. If you are thinking of joining us in Nepal next year, please confirm your intentions soon to avoid having camp by Pokhara’s Fewa Lake! If you haven’t already done so, please inform Richard Morris at [email protected] or on 01189 333274.

The current list of those intending to come to Nepal is also at below. Please send any updates/corrections to Richard soonest.

If you wish to come to the Pre-Durbar Dinner at TMPL on 23rd please inform Marcus asp at [email protected].

Tiger Mountain will issue updates in early January, to include notes, kit, payment options and last minute cancellation charges (within 15 days of arrival). TM does not issue vouchers but an email confirming booking means just that, all is confirmed - irrespective of payment being received or not.

Those wishing to do a local trek while in Nepal who have not yet booked may also consider using Kerr & Downey by contacting direct Rachel Baker at [email protected] who is offering a special Durbar discount.

Again for Gurkha Members - those intending to come at the Pokhara Durbar please inform the Regimental Association Nepal directly and not the Honorary Secretary.

We hope that still more will join us in Nepal next February.

With best wishes,

Brian O’Bree 24 October 2016
