Super 8 Motel - Kearney/KC Area

Drury is running a deal in the KC area right now: http://www.druryhotels.com/drurydeals/st_louis_vacation.cfm We found the best deal is to go through Drury yourselves. Their current special is pretty good and they can't reserve us a block any cheaper. Also, only so many rooms are held at these internet rates. Free breakfast, free beverages at night, free internet, and the key feature....no charge for dogs, no matter how many are in the room.

Here is what one of our adoptors said about the Kearney Super 8: "I would highly recommend this motel. The management was very dog-friendly,and the surrounding neighborhood was suburban with well-lit sidewalks and plenty of dog walking areas. I felt perfectly safe walking the dogs by myself early morning and late evening. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and the in-lobby complimentary breakfast food was good. The place is just a 10 minute drive from Caryn's place, so it was very convenient."

Here is what another adoptor said about the Super 8 in Smithville: "We stayed in the Super 8 Motel in Smithville last year. It was clean, not expensive and they allowed pets. I can't remember if there was a pet charge. It was very close to the event site. We would stay there again."

Drury Inn Kansas City Airport (just off I-29) 7900 NW Tiffany Springs Parkway Kansas City, Missouri, 64153-2310 Phone: 816-880-9700 http://www.druryhotels.com/hotel_locations.cfm Here is what a volunteer said about the Drury airport location: "I am quite happy with Drury Airport. They are very welcoming to dogs and didn't even bat an eye last year when I showed up with THREE. Also, it is next door to Cracker Barrel and Wendy's so it is easy to run to get dinner and bring it back to the room. Plus, there is lots of grassy area to walk (though close to the highway, so no off-lead unless you have a good recall)"

Here is some general info from an adoptor:

"We have stayed at the Quality Inn in Independence off of Nolan Road for 2 of the years and last year we stayed at Red Roof Inn off of Nolan Road.

The Quality Inn was pretty nice and they had a large enclosed courtyard area were Nellie could run and play some frisbee. The next year the area was closed and they were doing some form of construction. I don't know if the hotel is still a Quality Inn because it doesn't show on the website anymore. It may be a Regency now?

The Red Roof wasn't too bad, except, the Chiefs were playing the next day and since all the doors open to the outside, our drunk neighbor Chiefs fans kept us up half the night talking about the upcoming game. Unfortunately, Nellie was wore out from the reunion and wouldn't even bark at them. There really isn't a good exercise area at the Red Roof, but there is some grassy areas.

We haven't stayed at a Drury Inn, but were thinking of maybe staying there next time.

I think there is a Super 8 in Smithville near where the reunion was held. The big problem would be getting to restaurants Saturday evening, but they would probably have room for the dogs to be exercised. Another concern would be that some Super 8's only rent smoking rooms to pet owners."
