Minutes of the 2017 Annual General Meeting

OPENING

The meeting was opened at 11.25am with a karakia timatanga. The Co-Chair, Elizabeth Kerekere, welcomed everyone and confirmed that the quorum had been met.

That the apologies be accepted.

3. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

That the minutes of the 2016 Annual General Meeting be taken as read and accepted as a true and correct record of the meeting.

Matekino Marshall/Chris Martin– Carried

4. ANNUAL REPORT

The 2016-2017 Annual Report was tabled.

Anya spoke to the Annual Report. Elizabeth acknowledged the mahi of the organisation and Anya specifically.

That the 2016-2017 Annual Report be received.

Matekino Marshall/Kirsten Smith– Carried

5. AUDITED ACCOUNTS

That the Performance Report for the year ended 30 June 2017 be received.

Paula Kearns/Josh Tabor– Carried

6. APPOINTMENT OF AUDITOR

That the auditor for Ara Taiohi for the next financial year be Delwyn Heron.

Kirsten Smith/Paula Kearns– Carried

7. ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS The meeting was handed over to Matekino, Te Kaihautū who advised that there were four people standing for two places on the Board.

The four candidates were: Elizabeth Kerekere (whose 2-year term had expired, and was offering herself for re-election), Kirsten Smith, Mareta Matenga and Will Watterson.

Elizabeth, Kirsten and Mareta were invited to address the meeting. Will was unable to attend and those present were directed to his biography that had been distributed with the postal voting papers.

That Wendy Osmond and Kirsten Le Harivel be appointed as scrutineers.

Matekino Marshall/Simon Mareko– Carried The scrutineers proceeded to count the votes.

Matekino continued with the agenda while the votes were being counted.

8. OUTGOING BOARD MEMBER

Simon Mareko, outgoing Board member who was not standing for re-election was fare-welled and thanked for his service.

9. ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS (resumed)

Matekino declared that Elizabeth Kerekere and Kirsten Smith were elected to the Board of Ara Taiohi for the next 2 years and congratulated them on their election. There was acknowledgement of Mareta Matenga and Will Watterson who had honoured us by standing for election.

That the voting papers be destroyed.

Matekino Marshall/Heidi Mills - Carried 10. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Matekino acknowledged James Makowharemahihi as our new Kaumatua and invited people to greet him after the close of the meeting. There being no further business, the meeting concluded at 12.35pm with a karakia whakamutunga.
