SHORE EVENTS

At this time we have confirmed the following GBR sponsored shore events on five nights. Other attractions (*) are included for your information only. For now we need an early indication of your interest so that we can inform our hosts and caterers. Some of the costs are agreed upon and others are estimates. Final confirmations and payments will be required at registration in Owen Sound on Sunday July 29th. If you are not going to be in Owen Sound for registration please contact the Regatta Chair, George Will, to make alternative arrangements.

Saturday July 28th (*) Russell Brothers Tugboat Regatta hosted by the town of Owen Sound and the Georgian Yacht Club. This is not part of the GBR but you are welcome to participate. Dockage at the Georgian Yacht Club is $35.00 for Saturday night. See details @ www.owensound150.com ______

Sunday July 29th Welcome dinner at the “Rusty Gull” above the Owen Sound Marina. ‘All in’ cost, including taxes and gratuity is $11.50 for their ‘fabulous BBQ’d Hamburger dinner.’ Early bird registration prizes (You need to be there to win!), fleet splits and division flags will be handed out. Sign up and help us get the regatta started on a fun note. ______

Monday July 30th Evening powwow with our First Nations hosts of the Cape Crocker Band. Any cost will be covered in the Regatta Fee. Details and exact location to be confirmed. ______

Tuesday July 31st Wingfield Basin shore buffet, hosted by “The Friends of Cabot Head”. ‘All’ in cost, including a $3.00 donation for lighthouse preservation is $20.00 per person. This is our longest sail. Give the cook and crew a break with a great shore dinner. ______Friday August 3rd The Reef Boat Club at Meaford Harbour has generously offered to host an “après-sail” event. There will be no charge and we expect it to be BYOB unless our beer sponsor comes through again! _____

(*) For the more “sophisticated” (and less exhausted!) consider a performance of classical musical theatre entitled “The Golden Violin” at the newly renovated Meaford Opera House. This show has a bit of everything; serious music, moving stories, comedy, humour, audience interaction, lots of costumes and a fascinating script. Saturday August 4th Georgian Bay Sailing Association annual meeting at 17:00 hours at the Harbour Master’s Building in Thornbury Harbour. Support your sponsoring organization for the regatta. We need your full participation please. ______

Awards Banquet scheduled for 19:00 hours at Piper’s Tavern. Piper’s is a long-time sponsor of the regatta and we are looking for a good turnout!. Price to be provided at registration. Use $40.00 per person ‘all in’ for budgeting purposes. ______
