Sacramento START Student Absence and Early Dismissal Policy

Sacramento START has been made available to your child through the State of California After School Education and Safety (ASES) program funding. As a funding requirement, students are expected to attend Sacramento START five (5) days per week for three (3) hours each day.

Sacramento START understands that situations do occur that cause students to need to leave early or miss a day altogether. The bulleted items contain examples of excusable reasons for signing out of START early or missing program.  Medical Appointments  Family Emergency  Illness  Suspension From School  Parallel Program (school sponsored homework club, Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, sports league, band, choir, etc.)  Walkers; START students authorized by their parent/guardian to walk home from START. These students will be signed out of START 30 minutes before dark during the winter months.

Sacramento START encourages students to attend Monday – Friday after school until 6:00pm in order to gain the most benefit from the program and to be academically and socially successful.

All early dismissals and absences will require a note from the parent/guardian. For reasons of early dismissal over an extended period of time, please complete and return the back of this page to your Site Director. Early Dismissal Request
