AARP state offices are great on-the-ground reporters. Experiment with live broadcasts using Facebook Live, the tool launched in April 2016 that allows users with iOS and Android apps to create live broadcasts to their Facebook Groups and in Facebook Events. Facebook Live Facebook Live is the tool launched in April 2016 that allows users with iOS and Android apps to create live broadcasts to their Facebook Pages. Link to best practices is here.
Where to find it: Use the Facebook Pages App tap Publish and you’ll see an icon that says live video (looks like a little man with a halo) Before you broadcast, determine: o your target audience o your message o identify your key “takeaways” – what you want your audience to remember o know your call-to-action – what you want the audience to do Pre-Announce and Promote your broadcast. Let your FB friends know the time and date you will broadcast. In your promo, tell your viewers to click on the “follow” button during the broadcast so they will receive notifications of future FB live broadcasts If you are creating a several-part series on FB Live, consider broadcasting the same day and time so viewers will expect it Script a structure but know you may have to
5 improvise Do not broadcast at a noisy event Clearly state the asks: download the book, share ideas, sign up for the newsletter Experiment with varying lengths of broadcasts and content types (see suggestions, below). Sixty seconds is very short!
