Create a short web advertisement banner in Flash.

 School Ad ===>Choose a school team or group that can use an advertisement - it could inform the viewer about a team or club or about upcoming events. (i.e. FROGG’s campaign to collect old Christmas lights, the Pancake breakfast, Open Eyes)  Animated greeting card ====> Make an animated greeting card to say Happy Birthday or any message you wish. Visit a site like Bluemountain for samples.  Social Message ====> Create an animated message that informs the viewer on an issue, such as "Child Soldiers" or "Aids in Africa".

This file will be saved as a flash file (.fla) and published as a shockwave video file (.swf). It should be named as follows: Last Name, First Initial, Ad, .fla (e.g. “SmithJAd.fla” & SmithJAd.swf”)

For this project you may need to do some preliminary research on your chosen topic, talk to members of the team or club, take or collect relevant pictures.

Your animation must contain the following:

1. a title with an original slogan or catch phrase 2. focus on one main idea to advertise 3. change of document size 4. imported images (manipulated with Photoshop) or original drawings 5. utilize tweening effectively (both shape and motion) 6. use layers (blends optional) 7. apply effects 8. enhance important text 9. include a click button to replay 10. include a click button to take you to a website for more info 11. a flash created mouse cursor (optional)

 You should be aware of consistency in your imagery. (i.e. Avoid mixing black & white and colour images, high resolution and low resolution images, etc.)  Be aware of anti-plagiarism guidelines. Original imagery will be expected, if an image from the Internet is to be used it should be altered considerably. (i.e. stealing a hand from a photograph is acceptable, but stealing a face from a photograph is risky) Marking Scheme:

Application - use of the program features (20 marks)

Your animation contains all of the required elements, they are used frequently and effectively. Level 4 - All or almost all. Level 3 - Most. Level 2 - Some. Level 1 - Many missing

Communication - message and imagery (10 marks)

Your message is clear, effectively presented. Use of animation techniques to effectively enhance your message (animated effects, size changes, colour, etc. ...) . Imagery is consistent and effectively animated (pictures are clear, nicely edited with Photoshop, cleanly drawn, etc...)

Level 4 - Completely or Almost Completely. Level 3 - Mostly. Level 2 - Somewhat. Level 1 - Many problems

Thinking and Inquiry - Does your animation work as an advertisement?. (10 marks)

Is your advertisement ready for use? Could it be used on Cougar Vision?

Level 4 - Definitely. Level 3 - Likely.. Level 2 - Maybe. Level 1 - Not likely
